Fruit Sorbet

Granita Style

Transport yourself to the coast of Italy with this classic Italian dessert!
Summer is finally coming which means it's time to relax and treat yourself. There's simply no better way to celebrate summer than with a cool, refreshing bowl of fruity, delicious sorbet!

Prep time: 30 min  | Inactive time: 3 hrs | Cook time: 20 min |  # of servings: 1 large bowl

Ingredients
  • 4 cups fruit, washed, diced
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
Directions
  1. Gather all ingredients.
  2. Put sugar and water in a pan, then cook at low-medium heat until dissolved in a simple syrup,
  3. After syrup cools, pour 1 1/2 cup of syrup into blender along with fruit. Blend until smooth.
  4. If fruit is fibrous or seeded, strain in a fine-mesh strainer.
  5. Pour mixture into a large, wide basin and chill in freezer for 1 hour.
  6. After 1 hour elapses, begin churning mixture every 30 minutes to add air to mixture and break up ice crystals.
  7. Continue this churning process until sorbet reaches desired consistency. Less churning will result in a icier and chunkier sorbet while more churning will result in a smoother sorbet.
  8. Enjoy!
